I haven’t read a 5 Star read in so long so I am thankful I came across this one! It was unbelievably sexy and intriguing. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I stumbled onto this author after listening to the prequel novella audio in this series on the Read Me Romance Podcast.I’m not a big MC centered romance fan but this was awesome! It still has some bad ass bikers but I’m not sensing some of the normal MC stigmas I’ve read in other MC books.This is the love story of Ky and Kiera, step siblings by marriage but they’ve never met. Their parents are complete opposites who fell and in love and got married. I loved Kiera’s relationship with her Step Dad. He’s been more of a father to her than her own Dad and their close relationship is heart warming.Her Mom and Step Dad are out of the country when Kiera starts experiencing weird moments of being followed. She’s scared and by herself. She decides to track down the infamous bad ass biker her step dad had talked so highly of for help. Unfortunately Ky is in a state of pure hatred. His Dad left the Club and him and he had severe misplaced anger toward Kiera and her mom.However, his conscience gets the best of him. He decides to help her and over the next month these two grow from hate to explosive chemistry.“There’s one thing I’m certain of. If there is someone out there watching her, who wants to hurt her, they’re going to have to get through me and a barrier of Baum Squad MCs.â€I loved that this story pulls at every emotion. I was angry, turned on, swooning, terrified, sad, and in the end so happy.I can’t wait for more of these bad ass bikers!
I'm going to be honest, I read the prequel and really fell for Gerard and Kristen, was completely hooked by their story and wanted more. Once I realized this book would be about Ky and Kira, I thought okay, let's see where this goes. But I am slightly disappointed because while I liked Ky and could relate to his feelings regarding his dad, he just didn't strike me as an MC president. At first, yes, he was a jerk and bada$$, but as the story progresses, he's a freaking softie with a big, bad attitude. On the other hand, Kira is a hot mess, emotionally, she's all over the place and I just found her character weak. The whole step-sibling story has really been told too much but I hoped this author would have an interesting spin or something to actually fuel the naughtiness of it, but that didn't happen either. The story itself is pretty good, it wasn't necessarily predictable and had some interesting twists, but it just needed something more...sustenance, more depth.
While this was a good story that appears to be the beginning of a new series set in an MC world, it was a lighter read from the author. I'm not complaining because it was well written, the two main characters not only had depth but had to fight to overcome previous traumas from earlier in their lives. Some of these past trauma's contrbuted to misunderstandings, hurt feelings and interferred with the character's ability to trust in each other. There were some plot twists and the final "showdown" for survival came from a completely unexpected source. Of course this is what readers love about Ms Never's storytelling, an ending that's completely out of "left field" so to speak. My reason for assigning 4 stars instead of 5, I felt the readers were led to believe that this would be a lot "darker" read than it was. However, this was still a great beginning to a new MC romance series.
This is way above-average enemies to lovers or step-brother romance. The storyline twists and turns in on itself. Just when you think everything is going to work out another turn comes to the story. Kira is the heroine and Ky the hero. They are step siblings that have never met and they are definitely enemies. M.Never has written a captivating storyline that makes you stay up way past your bedtime to finish reading the book! Kira and Ky are both complex characters. Through M.Never’s writing style, you feel the pain and emotion of the characters in this book. Even her secondary characters have a depth to them. This book has all feels from the high of new love to the devastation of a love lost. There is plenty of salacious fun between these two! Definitely recommend this book and the prequel to it, Snowfall.
Ooohh Yeah!Now, thats what I am talking about!My fellow readers!M.Never has brought us a dark, gritty, suspenseful, fast-paced thrill fest of animalistic ( rawr ) protective vibes, with some primal lusting ( I mean P.R.I.M.A.L ) amongst the hate, and a one of a kind love weaving its way into dangerous territory romance! *Phew*Once I started Ky and Kira's tale of stalkers, unforgiving pasts, their searing connection, and that witty banter -there was no stopping my completely immersed self from finishing this book in one sitting! IExcellent characters and a magnificent, unique storyline.So much more than I could have ever anticipated from reading the Prequal Snowfall- it's a Stepsibling, Mc, hotter than Hades, evil thrill ride and absolutely worth the read!
Slashes in the Snow was exactly what I was hoping for!!!! This book held my attention from beginning till end. That mystery was a jaw dropping moment for me. Most of the books I read I can guess who it is but NOPE, not in this one. I loved that it kept me on the edge of my seat. Ky and Kira are amazing characters. I hope more of the Baum Squad MC will get their own books.
5 DARK GRITTY STARS!! This story has it all from dark, gritty, sweet, sexy to love. I loved seeing Ky and Kira's story unfold, it was juicy and perfection. I was addicted to this book from the first page and did not stop until the last word in one sitting. I highly recommend this book, but you should definitely read the prequel first.
Hell yeah! This book is what I have been waiting for! A great story, well written and at just the right pace to keep me engaged. I could not put this book down. I was sneaking reads between meetings, at stop lights and don’t even try and talk to me during lunch time. I had to finish the book. I had to find out what happened next. Ky and Kyra’s story is a definite read.
