This one is very similar to The Nurse's Christmas Wish by the same author, but not quite as good. In this one, the heroine is a doctor, not a nurse, and spends so much time mooning over Zach that she gets distracted on the job. Not a lot of confidence in herself, either.

I found the write-up of this book appealing and ordered in on Kindle. I enjoyed it enough that I ordered 3 of Sarah Morgan's other books. Her background in the medical field added to her skill in making her characters seem real.

It's a lovely book!

Fast-paced story with lots of medical action that will leave a smile on your face! My only complaint is that there isn't a sequel - I'd love to spend some more time with Keely and Zach!Description from the book back cover:A family in need ... Great read. Enjoyed every last chapter. Looking forward to reading other books by this author, as well as other books in the series.

I hate to be a nay-sayer, but I have to admit that I didn't enjoy this book nearly as much as others I have read by the author (Survivor, Vetted, and Recombinant Love). This book was published a couple years prior to those and that might explain the difference. I found this book to be very poorly edited. My wife and I enjoy sharing books together and I read them aloud. This was a challenge in that regard.There are moments when the story is captivating, but many more when it lags. We usually enjoy long books, but this one dragged. We also found that some of the major plot shifts were unbelievable, particularly the change in Cass' anti-war attitude to her enlistment.Not a winner in our opinion, but we are glad the author improved and so look forward to reading future novels.

This is an epic book that follows a woman from rural Wisconsin to the pacific during WWII. She goes through some amazing adventures before and during the war.I was amazed at all that she had to go through, both in Wisconsin and during the war. I couldn't imagine surviving her adventures.I also admire her great character. She is a mid-wife and becomes a nurse during the war. She helps people all over and stands up for her community.

Other than some typos this is a good story... Many elements are covered romance, life lessons, history. For those who do not know many lgbtq persons live quietly and have forever... Some societies ignore it if it is not flaunted. That is our story and this one deals with those issues in a personal story of Cass a independent woman with a heart of gold set during the era surrounding World War II. Discovery, understanding and life lessons make this an interesting read. I enjoyed the perspective. Curl up and enjoy it for yourself.

This story takes place in northern Wisconsin between the late 1930's and mid-1940's. The setting was important to me because I love reading about strong women and how they overcome society 's limited opportunities. The plot was perfectly woven to make me not want to stop reading for meals or bedtime. I wish this author was on kindle unlimited as I own many of her e-books; this one is my absolute favorite! Thank you K'Anne Meinel.

I really enjoyed this book. I love any novels that are a decent length and not just the standard 220 pages schlock we get stuck with these days. You are given time to meet the characters and get to know them. Any book that is a period piece will attract my interest and this was very good. You start out in post depression America and travel to post WW2 with a captivating story about two women who are strong in their own unique ways and who also are flawed but intriguing. Well written and enjoyable.

Having learned by me reading all of K'Anne's other books that each has twists and turns, romance, tragedy, recovery, reconciliation, I was on the edge of my seat wondering how she might make things right in this story. I was not disappointed. K'Anne is a brilliant writer. The only problem in finishing all of her novels is having to wait for her next one to come out!

I really enjoyed this book.I sometimes felt I could have been on the farm watching the story play out in front of me,the details and descriptions are amazing.

This story flowed effortlessly and held my attention to the very end. I was exhausted by the amount of work the characters performed and was elated with their joy. The joy, sadness, love and other emotions are written in such a way that they are palpable to the reader. The author did her research well and I felt like I was living in the time. Cass and Stephanie, the main characters are both heroines for what they accomplished, and their survival. The cover of the book is apropos to content and way the story ends. Granted, there are some typographical errors, however, they are easy enough to read over.

This is a good starter book on what turtles and tortoises require. It outlines many of the types of turtles and tortoises, has tons of color pictures, and is chock full of info.It goes over habitats, feeding, breeding, hibernation, dangers (fire ants, spinach) etc. including practical tips from the authors.Unfortunately, this book convinced me that it is not very easy to keep turtles and tortoises and this would be a major investment and worry, so I decided not to.Oh well.

Great book to learn about turtles but not so much for Tortoises

When I got my turtle, Tim, I didn't know a thing about turtles - so I got this book as well as did a ton of research online. This book has TONS of good information (and pictures) about how to care for and house turtles. My turtle is several years old now, and is very happy and healthy. I recommend this to anyone who is looking to get a pet turtle. The reality of turtle-keeping is that it is a LOT of work. Turtles are dirty, and even with high powered filters their tanks need constant cleaning. I didn't know what I was getting in to, but it's worth the effort! Turtles are wonderful pets, and this book will give you all the basic information you need to know.

A bit old...but still relevant in robotic design...technology has improved but the fundamentals remain...

I just finished participating in the MIT 6.270 Autonomous Robot Competition. This book really pulls together everything you need to understand how to build a robot from Lego parts, and interface it to the real world using a variety of sensors and actuators (aka motors). There is so much to be learned by actually BUILDING a robot - this is a great book to help you dig into your own project. You can order the same hardware and software used in the MIT class off the internet as well.

I purchased this book as a 'recommended' book for a class almost nine years ago and it's still interesting.

This is a great book though I will probably not rank it good. Should be acceptable. It's a really old book.

This book presents an introduction to various aspects of robot building and planning. It is written as an undergraduate textbook, and contains numerous exercises throughout the text. The book assumes that students and other readers will have access to Handyboards and LEGO Technic equipment, as well as a desktop PC and hobbyist-level soldering equipment. The book walks the reader through analyzing a Handyboard, how to use it, how to build custom sensors and motors, and how to write programs in assembly language. All of this information would be very useful to first-year engineering students as it would help them put theory from many of their other classes into practice. Nevertheless, most of the tasks and programs described in the book could actually be built with a standard LEGO RCX brick. On the other hand, a person who masters the material in this book would be able to take advantage of the extra sensors and motors that the Handyboard supports and build far more sophisticated robots than would be possible with LEGO Mindstorms equipment. Anyone who builds robots using LEGO equipment, whether with a Handyboard or an RCX, will find information in this book about Braitenberg vehicles, LEGO design, control theory, and robotics contests quite useful. The introduction to Assembly language in Appendix A is also presented in an easily accessible style.

The basic content of this book is excellent. It provides a readily accessible introduction to the principles of engineering. This book could easily be used as the text for a first year course in a unified engineering curriculum including Computer Science. The one flaw with this book is that it appears to have been rushed out by the publisher. Many of the page references are to the wrong pages and some of the pictures are rather blurry. Finally, the instructions for creating and downloading ICB files to incorporate assembly language modules for interrupt side programming and similar purposes needs to be reworked in a future edition. I hope that a future edition will also have a chapter on electrical design and construction techniques to compliment the chapter on mechanical techniques. I also look forward to a third chapter on sensing and possibly a second chapter on control theory. Regardless, this is overall an excellent book and should be acquired by anyone interested in small robots.

Kind of funny, this book showed up as a suggestion on some random unrelated page, and I had to comment.I took an Intro to Robotics course a number of years ago, the author of this book being the teacher of the course.All I can say at this point is that parts and components may change over time, but the basic lessons of robotics remain the same. And these lessons have helped me even to this day, most notably forcing myself to reject a mindset of "it should just work". (Thanks, Fred!)Humans do so many things so easily that until you try to program a robot yourself, you can't really appreciate whats actually involved.That's sort of the other thing that I got out of the course and this book - the ability to deconstruct whats involved in these "simple things", like accurately walking towards a source of light, and using that information on the job (lasers, motion control, sensors, etc).In a way, this book is good not only for people interested in robotics, but also for people interested in humans and how they work. When trying to figure out how to make a robot do something, you have to first figure out how YOU do it, then adapt that to the available hardware.Plus... You get to play with Lego's, man.

I usually get two guide books for every trip I take, Lonely Planet and DK (recently I started to try out Fodor's. I don't think I like it because its layout or format is kind of confusing. Maybe I'm not used to it yet). Compared to DK, LP is much more detailed in my opinion, but DK offers more photos. I felt compelled to write a review because I found DK is getting harder and harder to read due to its extremely small font, especially the description next to a photo or illustration). Maybe I'm getting old and need reading glasses (in fact my husband said he couldn't read anything on DK, lol). After reading it for a while, my eyes just start to hurt and I don't feel like reading it anymore. I don't know why the publisher make the font so small. I would imagine older people would have a hard time reading it. BTW, I'm 41-year-young :)

I really like eyewitness travel guides. I got the same book when I went to Rome 15 years ago. I am using it again on this trip. One thing I did notice, that in 15 years my eyesight has declined. And it's very difficult to read the small print. Oh well, maybe one of my younger travel companions will be able to read it for us. Hey, Eyewitness! If you read this, please give us Kindle versions. Makes it much easier to travel with your guides. That way we don't have to lug around these heavy (1.5lb) books. Then I could also adjust the text size. (This is why this guide loses 1 star in my review)

Great Pictures. Information seemed dated.Large heavy book. Better information available in the Fodors book which is a pound less. The pictures are beautiful and this would make a good coffee table or bookcase book, but not a good book to travel with. I couldn't find operating hours quickly for attractions. It annoyed me that I could not find the info in a logical place.

The indexes are so inadequate that the book is only minimally useful. Why on earth is it too difficult to do them well? I am required to search and look for cross indices and find after standing on the street looking for references to what I am looking for and finally then find only the most minimal information on what I am looking at? I found the guides far more frustrating than useful. I would not buy these guides again when I travel.

This was so handy and easy to use. Love the way the book is organised by areas of the cities. Really liked the foldout map with the color-coded walking only streets. The book fit easily into my purse. The travel tips in the back, specific to Budapest were spot on and very helpful. Having the book added a lot of confidence for us navigating a big city on our own. Will most definitely be buying similar Top 10 books for other travel destinations.

Dorling Kindersley Eyewitness Travel are my favorite series of travel guides. DK produces the most detailed and beautiful photographic guides. I have one for every country or city I’ve visited since first discovering them 18 years ago while living in the UK. I still buy the books for trip planning (and the gorgeous visuals), but now I also purchase and download the Kindle version of their 'Lists of 10 Top' guides for the specific location to lighten my luggage load.

This Top 10 Guide is another winner and was an essential companion on our 5-day trip to Budapest in April. The recommendations and options were spot-on. We carried it everywhere we went during the daytime, and as a result often found hidden gems while on rambling walks through the various sections of Buda and Pest. The high-quality photos make finding things so much easier, and now serve as a great reminder of our time in this amazing city. The Gellert Baths (on the cover) are an experience not to be missed…though friends said that all the baths in Budapest are worth a visit, this is really a special experience. Another great Budapest experience was drinking late into the night with locals at the cool ruin bars, several of which are listed in the book (and then you can ask locals for the others to visit - the 'hot' ruin bars seem to change regularly and by season). By visiting the Top 10 sites, walking most places or taking public transportation, you'll have a magical trip.

I love this brand of book for whenever I travel, and this book for Peru was just as good. It gives a lot of details on the different places, and it was especially helpful when we went to Machu Picchu. I would recommend this to anyone going to Peru

Rodeo Girl is a spectacular and refreshing collection of photographs that will surely appeal to anyone interested in photography, the rodeo, or both. As an age of technology engulfs our world like a whirlwind, Lisa Eisner's lens takes the viewer through frames of the rodeo as though it were a ballad to an endangered species, a slow, lasting glimpse before it disappears forever into the sunset. Eisner finds in the rodeo what most photographers only dream of -- an opportunity to craft deliberate compositions of the spontaneous. And she takes advantage of that opportunity brilliantly. While many of the photographs are indeed of rodeo girls, the palette of subjects depicted is actually much broader. Personally, I like Eisner's sense of photographic artistry, and the high print quality helps do it justice. Among other things, with photographs in colour as well as black & white, warm tones seem to be preferred throughout which makes for a classic appearance and suits the rodeo theme well. To truly enjoy this book, set aside any preconceived notions you might have, take it one page at a time, and turn each one slowly. Otherwise, you might easily miss barrel racer Katie McCoin at Cheyenne taking time out to write a note to someone, hopeful yet easygoing Candice Fernets at the national high school finals in Gillette beaming a winsome smile wide as the West, champion steer wrestler Denver Gilbert spending a quiet moment in the truck, an ever-patient cowboy on the fence with the sun setting in the background, and many, many more memorable scenes of the rodeo that this wonderful collection of photographs will never let us forget. We are left anxiously awaiting the next rodeo, hopefully with Eisner close behind rounding up another volume of luminous photographs.

Growing up in Cheyenne and being a bit of a cowgirl myself, the beautiful photos in Rodeo Girl, capturing glimpses of "behind the shutes and corrals" activities of Cheyenne Frontier Days and other local rodeos, really brought back wonderful memories of those years. Plus, I grew up with Lisa so that made the book even more enjoyable!

I really like the movie. But I didn't order the book. Which I received. I liked it when the woman stood up for herself.

I'm really disappointed. As a current title holder and someone who has competed for national titles I don't think this book is really accurate. It is billed as a rodeo queen pictorial, but the pictures are so limited. It's about rodeo culture. Not rodeo queens.There are so many pictures of random rodeo scenes. In fact, I think it gives the layperson a really negative view of the rodeo culture. The pictures are over exposed and the way they are printed make them seem so dated. It's almost embarrasing. The few pictures that she had of queens weren't great, nothing to write home about. If they were of myself, I probably wouldn't buy the book.To me it was a disappointing waste of money. But if she got THIS published, I know I could put my personal photos together, not rake the time to title them and be a hit!

I was disappointed in this book. I have met and spent time with Miss Rodeo America 1999 and 2000, and the Miss Rodeo California's from 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001 as well as held rodeo queen titles of my own.I purchased this book as a resource for rodeo and queen competitions. I expected a book about the life of a rodeo queen and some of the challenges and triumphs that are experienced by the first ladies of rodeo. This book is unfortunately of little to no use for current or potential rodeo queen competitors.Much to my surprise, this book is a compilation of untitled photos that depict candid images of rodeo queens, children, and cowboys in a variety of rodeo-ish settings. As a coffee table book, this would be great, if all I wanted was a book of pictures.
