I did not miss a single word because his reading was smooth and consistent.I was interested in this title because I believe it can help improve my writing of reviews by teaching me to better construct my arguments. I was also interested to educate myself on Rhetoric to better understand what my son, who is a graduate student at Miami University of Ohio in Rhetoric and Composition, is talking about when he tries to explain his master's thesis to me. The audiobook was great to listen to but I felt like I needed to take notes. Having essential tremor precludes note taking. Having the physical or Kindle book, I could have highlighted the passages I felt I would need to reference often. What I did do was put a ton of bookmarks with a short description for each book mark like “cheat sheet” or “argument arrangement”.I would recommend this audiobook. At three hours running time, it can be listened to during commutes or while doing other tasks. Simon Vance’s voice is so pleasing that listening to it repetitively would be enjoyable. If you can take notes, you will probably only need to listen to it once but you will want to listen to it again and again.

This is a very good abridged version on Cicero's writings regarding public speaking and his philosophical arguments on social and professional matters. I would recommend it as a starter prior to reading some of his original ancient manuscripts. .

The only fault I have with this book is that I am not able to access the Instructor's resources. I have one student who is woefully lacking in understanding the why and how of the human body. This book has been a God send for her when I work with her one on one. She has improved both in classroom and in the clinical setting because of the building block this has provided. My other students use this as a resource when they can't understand certain structures in relation to other organ systems and the interactions. Some may feel that using an advanced resource such as this for a LPN/LVN program is too advanced for this student population. Trust me; the more these student learn the more engaged and the more they want to learn. Book is great however; not being able to access the Instructor's resources limits my ability to teach my students.

This review is for the Kindle version of the text, being read on the Kindle for Mac application. I do not own a Kindle.Pros:The material is explained well. It is concise and easy to read. Conceptually and in terms of conveying ideas, I think this text does a great job.Cons:Image quality is horrendous. I'm using Kindle For Mac and there is no zoom function for the images. A lot of the images are tiny and you can see pixelation where they've down sampled the images to conserve space. I'm trying to look at the membranes of the internal, external, and innermost intercostal muscles and I can tell you that the image I'm using (Fig 1.11) is borderline useless.If you're taking anatomy and need to reference an atlas, you know that 3/4 of the information you need is going to be in those images. This is where this version seriously fails to deliver.Whether it's because of display limitations of the Kindle For Mac application or the actual file containing subpar images, I would definitely recommend you NOT pick up the Kindle version of this text. Try to find a real PDF version of it or get the hard copy version.

I would say that this book is pretty good except for one major flaw, the images. Each image is apparently stored as a low-resolution image. The result is that zooming in on the image provides no additional detail, just a larger, more pixellated view of the same image. Worse, the labels on the images are not selectable or searchable because they are part of the image.I would suggest buying the paper book for this one. The image transfer to the textbooks that my classmates are using looks far superior, and with an anatomy text, the quality of the images is of extreme importance.

Great book. Required for medical school. Note that there is NO physiology associated with text. Strictly anatomy. Do not get for supplemental reading unless you lack adequate anatomy materials and do not need explanations of organ/system functions and cascades

Having never read "Clinically Oriented Anatomy," I can't confirm whether or not this book was largely taken from that. It does feel like it was cut down from something else, however, and not in a good way; some parts of the text just don't flow very well. This book may point you towards the "essentials," but at times, it is so confusing that you might want to consider using a different text as your main one.Despite its prose format, it often reads like bulletpoints, perhaps due to the effort to condense it.The images can be a little rough. I don't mean the fact that they are like cartoons, but that the lines aren't always very sharp.

I used this book for my physician assistant anatomy course. I really like the way that the book explained everything and all the different pictures it used. I wish I had time to read the entire book, but unfortunately I did not. However, it was a really good book to clarify topics that I was confused about and it helped put all of the connections together!

My medical school bases much other their anatomy course off this book. It really is a useful text for context and clinical relevance. Pleasantly surprised to find that explanations are not overly bogged down by minutia.

I love the book, especially the clinical and imaging boxes, and the diagrams. But I was really disappointed that the online code doesn't include access to a pdf of the text. I've never bought a book with online content that didn't include he digital copy of the book. If I had the digital copy, I would rate it a 5 out of 5, but without it, I can only give it a 3

Annie Sloan is the best for painting techniques and colors and Colour Recipes for Painted Furniture and More does not disappoint. I was especially intrigued with her color mixing. I have long painted old furniture and have not yet found better ideas and techniques than Annie Sloan offers and this book provides many new ideas using her chalk paints.

Fun book that makes somewhat complex approaches seem really possible, but not enough projects in the book for the price, especially since so much project info is available online. That said, I do really like her repeated approach of saying she tried something, didn't like it, so tried something else until she got what she liked. That liberating idea alone (to keep working the materials--the paints, basically) might actually be worth the price of the book. The images are gorgeous and definitely left me wanting more. Made me really see why chalk paint can achieve some truly worthwhile results, and made me realize that I wanted to start from this position of being willing to work in more complex ways (with multiple colors in layers, some watered down, maybe some color mixing) in order to achieve a unique, deeply loved, durable dining table.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is a handy book for when you want to do some creative paint mixing. She gives 40 projects, some of which are unlikely to be suitable for US houses, but are a pleasure to read about. You can use her techniques to transform a piece of furniture no one else would give a second look.The ASCP is expensive, so making new colors is a real plus.There is Annie Sloan's own color wheel, using her colors and techniques. Including the warm/cold color theory for decorating. She paints a chair before taking off the old upholstery, demos faux marble, stenciled walls, and painted floors, & shows how to put colors together in a room, and HT dye fabric using her paint, among the many projects. This is a good book that answers the questions you might have. Her own house in France gets the paint-over and my only complaint is that she made me want a house in France of my own.

This book is very inspiring. I've never painted with chalk paint before and now that I understand Annie's color wheel and the combos you can make, I can't wait to try it on our end tables and some shelving we have around the house! Just have to save up a little bit, as the paint is quite expensive. I feel that this book is the perfect introduction to chalk paint. I've also supplemented with some youtube videos, which is quite helpful.

Off he goes into the deep snows around the small farmstead---and drops a mitten while climbing a tree. Not noticing, on he goes having a wonderful snowy day. So does a wee mole who crawls in the mitten. So does a rabbit snuggling right down. So do a forestful of animals, all enchantingly portrayed with expressions of increasing annoyance as a ox---a fox and then a great big bear climb into the sot warm mitten.But---a tiny mouse, a latecomer, climbs on bear's nose causing a big sneeze which propels all the critters hither and yon, and tosses the mitten through the air just in time for Nikki who is searching to catch it. On the last page, Nikki is happily toasting his toes by the fire while Grandma holds up the mittens she has knitted puzzled indeed about why has stretched and stretched.The story abounds with delights for reader and listeners: the text is written with almost a poetic cadence with lovely sounding words; the illustrations are bright with color and joyously composed, the story tickles the imaginations and offers a grand platform for talking about animals who might or might not fitten into a mitten. This book is beautiful. The illustrations are ethereal and adorable. The story is sweet and old fashioned in a good way. It might be a long read for young children, but I think it's worth it.It's not neutral colors and relaxing, I like that about books. It's not neon colors and flashy stories with no meaning, just to hold children's attention. It uses some old fashioned terminology and language, but that's a good thing because I don't feel it panders to younger readers.It's beautiful. Get the book!

Purchased this book for a 24 day countdown to Christmas. I wrap up 24 books and put them in a open box. Then Dec. 1st I let one of my grandchildren open a book then I read it to them. This way they learn to count, listen, take turns and wait. It is fun to do.

Beautiful story for children. Grandmother Baba makes white mittens for Nicki but warns him that white mittens are easily lost in the snow. Sure enough Nicki loses one mitten. One by one the animals big and small find shelter and each other inside the mitten. Then the bear sneezes and the animals fly out of the mitten. The mitten sails up into the air and Nicki finds it. Lovely Ukrainian folktale adapted by Jan Brett. Very beautifully illustrated.

You never forget a Jan Brett book!I purchased this book for my classroom, since we are studying the world and culture through music! Couldn't think of a better story to read to my class of 3-5 year olds.I never forgot her illustrations and the book was exactly how I remembered it when I last read it at six years old!

I bought this as a baby gift - the start of a library for him. It was one of my favorite books to read to my children and one that they loved. It is a joy to read and it made me laugh the 100th time I read it. Illustrations are marvelous

Applying coconut oil to the eye to clear up cataracts? I loved this book! Having just visited my ophthalmologist, it made me realize how much she could learn about nutrition and eye health. As soon as I finish the book, guess who is getting it?!

I wouuld give it a million stars if possible, EXCELLENT book/advice. I've start the coconut oil in my eyes and they feel so much better since I stop the eye drops. Bought both the Kindle edition and a book. Now I'll be able to loan the book out to others. Really a good book, thank you to the author. Very easy to read and understand.

This book gives real and practical ideas about what to do to bring about healing. I loaned the book to my naturopath and we designed a plan for me to follow. Further following his suggestions about diet affecting inflammation, we've "gone keto." I also picked up his ketogenic diet support book which is simple (most on this topic are not) and easy to follow.

I also have a strong family history of glaucoma, so doing whatever i can to preserve the sight I have is extremely important to me.Dr. Bruce Fife is a naturopath, certified nutritionist, and director of the Coconut Research Center. He's a prolific author, having written 20 books based on his extensive review of the literature on the benefits of coconut oil and its medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). In his latest book, Stop Vision Loss Now!, he provides evidence that a well-balanced, nutrient-rich, very-low-carbohydrate diet supplemented with coconut oil may help to prevent and even reverse some of the most common eye disorders associated with aging.The major concept of the book is that the eyes are an extension of the brain, so whatever keeps the brain healthy and well nourished will do the same for the eyes. There's a growing body of research demonstrating that maintaining blood glucose and insulin levels as close to normal as possible can help preserve brain function and reduce the risk for Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. According to Dr. Fife, many researchers now believe that although increased intraocular pressure is involved in glaucoma, its primary cause is that nerve cells within the brain become damaged, similar to what happens in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. He explains that coconut oil increases brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a gene that stimulates the growth, maintenance, and repair of these nerve cells.. Dr. Fife suggests that the increase in ketone levels that occurs in response to MCT can protect eye health and improve or potentially reverse degenerative eye disorders as a result of increased BDNF. In addition to age-related conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, coconut oil can also be used for dry eyes, eye infections, and other non-vision-limiting conditions.*In addition to generous amounts of healthy fats and moderate amounts of protein, Dr. Fife recommends including a wide variety of nonstarchy vegetables and berries to reduce oxidative stress that can lead to eye disease. He advises selecting from three different levels of carbohydrate intake based on blood glucose levels and provides a sample menu for a typical day, along with guidance on meal planning and dining out. Lists of protective low-carbohydrate foods and a comprehensive net carb counter are included. Wonderful Book, Packed full of great information if you want to save your eye site. I wish I'd gotten it sooner but it is still a great help even though I'm had to have a cataract surgery already. There is more to our eyes that just the lense.

Excellent book, Dr. Fife! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down! Knowing how a Keto diet affects literally every function of the body is priceless. His writing style and ability to explain everything in layman's terms makes understanding the connection between health and diet so much easier to follow. I highly recommend this book as a reference piece that could change or save your life or the life of someone you know. Dr. Fife is one of the most well informed doctors you will ever find on nutrition so it's a no-brainer to purchase and read ALL of Dr. Fife's books.

This is the first book by Dr. Fife that I completely read. "Stop Vision Loss Now!" contains some very useful insights that I now use. OTOH, it isn't perfect. While I use coconut oil every day, other aspects of his ketogenic diet leave me cold. I doubt if anybody anywhere follows a strict ketogenic lifestyle long-term, excepting maybe a castaway. In fairness to Dr. Fife, he does point out different aspects of a ketogenic lifestyle that many people *can* embrace and still reap a benefit.
